“We must ban all weapons of war” is a common refrain heard from Leftist gun control advocates. The thinking behind this profoundly ignorant statement is that the Second Amendment was intended to protect hunters. “Weapons of war” were never intended by the Founding Fathers to be owned by average citizens. Thus, they need to be banned.
The “weapons of war” talking point is a common one among Democrat politicians. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, for example, tweeted out her desire to ban “weapons of war” last night.
Weapons of war, specifically designed to kill human beings en masse, should not be available for purchase.

AOC, however, fails to define exactly what qualifies as a “weapon of war.” Being curious I decided to ask AOC what she would define as a “weapon of war.”
What’s a “weapon of war?”

I assumed that Leftists wanting to craft legislation to ban an item should be able to define said item fairly easily. I figured I would receive a pretty exact definition of the types of firearms that would constitute a “weapon of war” that should be banned.
Turns out I was wrong.
Very wrong.
If you have to ask, you shouldn’t have a gun of any type. Not even a BB gun.

Muzzle velocity > 900 FPS, it’s simple dummy.

Exactly! We should all be able to buy surface to air missiles and nukes!

Pretty self explainatory.

Simple. It’s a weapon a soldier would carry into combat. The AR platform as sold to civilians only lacks a full auto selector (or burst in modern platforms). Everything else is either identical or superior to the M16 and M4 platforms.

Weapons of war are what I brought to war, and that are readily available in America. Miss me with your bullshit about the rate of fire, we shoot semi auto in the military. So do school shooters.

A weapon designed to kill humans you dumbass

In fact, among all of the replies I got from Leftists there was only one person who was actually honest about what the definition of a “weapon of war” really was.
Whatever liberals say it is. Gun owners did this to yourselves. Had your chance to reverse the wild west policy and do something about escalating gun violence. But you all thought sitting on your ass doing nothing was a genius strategy. Now others decide for you, and you cry.

The point of gun control isn’t to save lives or protect children. The point of gun control is control, plain and simple. A disarmed populace is much easier to control from cradle to grave than an armed populace. Leftists refuse to define what a “weapon of war” is simply because doing so would limit their control. Thus, a weapon of war becomes literally whatever a Leftist wants it to be. Anything from an AR-15 to a simple 9mm handgun becomes a “weapon of war” when that term has zero definition.
Think about that the next time you hear a Leftist talk about how banning “weapons of war” would save lives.
